ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan, December 4. Turkmenistan and the UAE discussed the state and prospects for the development of a comprehensive partnership, in particular in the field of emission reduction, Trend reports.
The talks were held during President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov's visit to Dubai, for the COP-28 conference. He held talks with Deputy Prime Minister, Minister for the Presidential Court of the UAE, Sheikh Mansour Bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
Turkmen president expressed confidence that the important initiatives put forward at this high-level meeting will open up new opportunities for constructive international dialogue in such an important area as climate change.
It was noted at the meeting that Turkmenistan, which makes a significant contribution to the efforts made by the world community to solve this problem, is interested in continuing the coordinated joint fight against climate change and its negative consequences.
He stressed that in accordance with the National Strategy on Climate Change, Turkmenistan is taking concrete steps to reduce harmful emissions into the atmosphere, introduce modern environmentally friendly and resource-saving technologies, especially in the oil and gas, electric power and transport sectors.
The parties noted that these basic sectors of the Turkmen economy represent a wide field for long-term mutually beneficial partnership and large-scale joint projects, the implementation of which will contribute to the intensification of economic cooperation and the fuller realization of the existing potential of interaction.
Meanwhile, the development of cooperation between Turkmenistan and the UAE is based on mutual benefits and unique resources of both countries.
