ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan, March 15. Turkmenistan's foreign trade turnover for the whole of 2023 amounted to about $21 billion, Trend reports.

According to an official source, this was said during a meeting of the Turkmen delegation headed by the Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov, and representatives of the Austrian business community, held at the Austrian Economic Chamber in Vienna city.

The Turkmen delegation noted that at the same time, Turkmenistan's exports prevail over imports by 1.7 times.

During the meeting, the attention of the Austrian partners was drawn to the fact that Turkmenistan, increasing the share of products from processing industries in exports, continues the policy of diversifying energy exports.

"Turkmen natural gas was supplied to Azerbaijan, China, Russia, and Uzbekistan in 2023. The geography of exports of petroleum products, electricity, and mineral fertilizers is expanding," it was emphasized at the meeting.

The Turkmen side added that revenues from hydrocarbon exports allow the country to actively invest in the development of high-value-added industries, as can be seen from investments in the economy in 2023, which amounted to more than $11 billion, which is 7.8 percent higher compared to 2022.

As for Austrian business, such sectors as energy, transport, agriculture, digitalization, the green economy, and others were highlighted as promising areas of cooperation.

Meanwhile, the Austrian Federal Economic Chamber coordinates the activities and represents the interests of the Austrian business community at the national and international levels.

It unites chambers from nine federal states and 110 trade associations representing the country's industries.

Membership in the Chamber is mandatory for Austrian companies, which includes all operating firms in the country, numbering about 430,000 enterprises in various business sectors.
