Turkmenistan notes significant increase in sales on its commodity exchange

ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan, August 1. Turkmenistan last week noted an increase in sales on its State Commodity and Raw Material Exchange, the total amount of which amounted to more than $38.7 million, Trend reports.

According to the exchange, this is 2.7 times more than in the previous reporting period, during which the cost of raw materials sold amounted to $14 million.

Enterprises from the UAE, Türkiye and Afghanistan purchased diesel fuel, low-sulfur heating oil, liquefied gas produced at the technological installations of the Turkmennebit State Concern, as well as edible salt (Turkmenhimiya State Concern) for industrial use.

Furthermore, smooth-colored and jacquard terry products were sold to entrepreneurs in exchange for foreign currency.

Turkmenistan's businessmen purchased polypropylene (Turkmennebit State Concern) and flat glass for the domestic market for a total of almost 12 million Turkmen manat ($3.3 million).

Last week's auctions of Turkmenistan's State Commodity and Raw Materials Exchange yielded 21 transactions.

Meanwhile, on July 29, 1994, Turkmenistan established the State Commodity and Raw Materials Exchange. It is the most important body of state regulation for export-import operations.
