ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan, September 24. Turkmenistan, with support from the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), is developing a revised Forest Code aimed at adapting the forestry sector to climate change, Trend reports via Turkmen media.

The draft of the updated code was presented during a two-day meeting in Turkmenistan’s Ashgabat, where forestry and environmental specialists, legal experts, and international consultants discussed its key provisions.

Participants emphasized the need for a modern legal framework that would facilitate the restoration and conservation of forests for future generations. Another critical objective of the new document is to ensure sustainable management of forest resources in light of ecological challenges and changing climatic conditions.

The meeting also addressed suggestions and comments that will be incorporated into the final version of the draft.

Once all discussion stages are completed, the legislation will be presented to the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan and subsequently submitted for parliamentary review.
