Uzbekistan, Tashkent, 26 November / Trend corr . T.Zhukov / On 25 November the Uzbek President received Farit Muhametshin , the Russian Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary, whose five-year mission will finish this week, the Presidential Administration said.
"Head of state highly assessed Muhametshin's activity in Uzbekistan and wished successes in his future work," the Administration said. "The Uzbek and Russian relations entered high and qualitative new level during Muhametshin's activity as the Ambassador in Uzbekistan. A contract on allied relations between our countries was signed in 2005. The document serves important legal base for strengthening of bilateral relations."
"At present Tashkent and Moscow successively develop cooperation in all fields. High level negotiations between two states have been of regular character. Intergovernmental, interparliamentary and interdepartmental relations, as well as forums of representatives of business circles became traditional and interregional cooperation is being activated," the Administration reported.
"Activity in Uzbekistan was unforgettable period of my life and I witnessed large-scale formations in the country, realized by President Islan Kerimov during this period," Muhametshin said. The former Ambassador mentioned the Uzbek President's great contribution to development of the Uzbek and Russian relations during his speech.
Muhametshin has been the Russian Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Uzbekistan since March 2003. He worked as a chief of the Russian Governmental Department before it. Russian President Dmitriy Medvedev signed a decree on Muhametshin's appointment special envoy of the Russian President for relations with CIS countries last week.
