Uzbek President Islam Karimov today received Kazakh Foreign Minister Yerlan Idrisov, the Uzbek National News Agency (UzA) said today.
While welcoming the guest, President Karimov said that an open and intensive Uzbek-Kazakh dialogue and multifaceted cooperation meet the long-term interests of both countries and peoples.
Idrisov conveyed President Nazarbayev's warm greetings to the Uzbek president and people.
It was stressed that Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan are interested in strengthening security and stability, sustainable development and prosperity of each other and the region.
The regular interstate contacts, exchange of views on a wide range of bilateral and international issues contribute to further expansion of mutually beneficial cooperation.
The sides are actively cooperating within such global and regional organizations as the UN, SCO, CIS, the International Fund for Saving the Aral Sea, and others.
The bilateral trade turnover exceeded $ 2.75 billion last year. Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan are ready to intensify the relations in this important area.
The sides also exchanged the views on important regional and international issues, UzA said.
