Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan discuss boosting trade and economic cooperation

The intensification of trade and economic cooperation between Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan is on the agenda of the next session of the Uzbek-Kazakh intergovernmental commission that started on June 3 in Tashkent, a source in the government circles of Uzbekistan told Trend on Monday.

According to the source, the agenda of the meeting includes a wide range of bilateral and international issues as well as discussion of specific areas of mutually beneficial cooperation, which is presently at the level of strategic partnership.

Bilateral trade between the two countries exceeded $ 2.75 billion by the end of 2012. Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan are ready to deepen relations in this important area as the largest trading partners in the region.

One of the main topics to be discussed at the meeting of the intergovernmental commission will be the preparation of relevant documents intended to be signed during the official visit of Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev to Tashkent, which is planned in the near future.

It is planned to sign a strategic partnership agreement between the two countries during the visit of the President of Kazakhstan to Uzbekistan.
