Uzbekistan's honored culture figure, the national broadcaster's announcer, Rakhmatilla Mirzayev, was killed March 2, his colleague, Muslimbek Yuldashev, who is also a well-known TV presenter, said on his Facebook page.
The murder was also reported by a number of local online media.
The broadcaster that employed the 60-year-old Mirzayev, as well as the prosecutor's office and investigating authorities, declined to comment on the issue.
The circumstances and motives of the incident, as well as the investigation's progress so far remain unknown.
Mirzayev was the leading announcer of news programs and public holiday events, aired by the national broadcasting company of Uzbekistan.
