US under secretary, Uzbek leadership to hold talks in Tashkent

US Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs Thomas Shannon, Jr., will arrive in Uzbekistan for bilateral talks October 27, the Uzbek Foreign Ministry said in a message October 26.
“The Uzbek leadership will receive Shannon during his visit,” the message said. “Shannon will also hold some other meetings."
Shannon will visit Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan October 24-29.
According to the US Department of State, Shannon will visit the Central Asian countries for the first time, where he will celebrate the 25th anniversary of the independence of the Central Asian countries.
The purpose of the trip is to strengthen the partnership among the Central Asian countries and the US government through C5 + 1 format, as well as discuss joint regional actions on the issues of mutual interest.
Shannon is expected to visit Uzbek cities of Tashkent and Samarkand.
He will get acquainted with the architectural monuments of ancient Samarkand and visit the grave of the first President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov.
