Exports of Uzbek watermelons to Russia decreases

Uzbekistan exported more than 2068.3 tons of watermelons as of July 1 2020 , Trend reports with reference to Uzbekistan National News Agency.

Uzbekistan exported $886,400 worth of watermelons in the first half of 2020.

The largest batch of watermelons was shipped to Russia (1,179 tons), but this is 228 tons less than the same period of 2019.

In the first five month of 2020, total revenue from fruits and vegetables supplied to Russia exceeded $100 million for the first time in this period.

In addition, Uzbek watermelons have been sent to Belarus, Estonia, Mongolia, Poland, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Ukraine, Kyrgyzstan and the UAE.

The largest volume of watermelons was grown in the Surkhandarya region (54,900 tons) and the Kashkadarya region (36,800 tons). Moreover, these two regions account for almost 45 percent of Uzbekistan's melon production.

Earlier, Uzbekistan’s Kashkadarya region started exporting yellow watermelons of Chillaki S1 variety to Russia, at the price of 55 cents per kilogram.
