Uzbekistan reveals number of projects implemented in textile industry

Export of textile products from Uzbekistan from 2017 to 2020 amounted to $2.1 billion, Trend reports with reference to the Uztekstilprom Association.

According to Uztekstilprom, 255 new projects worth $1 billion were implemented in Uzbekistan during the reported period.

More than $360,000 of foreign investment has been disbursed and more than 360,000 employees continue to work in more than 7,000 textile enterprises.

Exports of value-added and value-added products accounted for 50.2 percent.

In November 2020, the European Commission approved an application for the introduction of the GSP + preference system for products entering the EU market from Uzbekistan, and these preferences are expected to be introduced this year.

In addition, this year, cotton fiber processing enterprises operating in the regions are projected to produce 780,000 tons of various digital yarns based on domestic and foreign market requirements.

It was noted that in 2020 the main exports from Uzbekistan fell on Russia ($665.5 million), China ($438.2 million), and Kyrgyzstan ($283.9 million).

Earlier it was reported that the Chust textile enterprise in the Chust district of the Namangan region of Uzbekistan plans to increase the export of textile products up to $12 million in 2021.

According to the information, the enterprise is capable of producing a full range of clothing based on orders. In 2020, about 2,000 tons of fabrics and 5.2 million units of finished knitwear were produced.
