Uzbekistan reveals investment projects to be implemented in Kashkadarya region

Some 1125 projects with a total cost of 11.3 trillion soums ($1 billion) are planned to be implemented in 2021 in the Kashkadarya region of Uzbekistan, Trend reports referring to the press service of the president of Uzbekistan.

On March 15, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev got acquainted with the presentation of investment projects that are planned to be implemented in the Kashkadarya region.

According to the presentation, it is planned to create 296 industrial enterprises, 449 enterprises in the service sector, and 380 enterprises in agriculture.

It was noted that future enterprises will be able to produce products for more than six trillion soums ($571 million) per year, which will ensure the substitution of imports for $131 million and exports for $180 million.

These include 26 project proposals from cotton and textile clusters, including 10 projects focused on the production of finished products. As a result, the level of processing of raw cotton in the region will significantly increase.

According to the information, construction organizations in Kashkadarya use 106,000 tons of drywall, 102,000 square meters of tiles, and other building materials per year.

“However, despite the availability of the necessary raw materials, these products are not produced in the region itself. In this regard, several projects have been prepared,” the message said.

Thus, the project, worth 210 billion soums ($20 million), provides for the organization of the production of drywall, decorative stone, aerated concrete, reinforced concrete structures in the Chirakchi district. “As a result, it will be possible to reduce the cost of one square meter of housing under construction by up to 25 percent.”

In addition, projects for the production of tiles in the Chirakchi district, processing of granite and marble in Shakhrisabz city were presented.

Moreover, the mountainous districts of the Kashkadarya region specialize in the cultivation of fruits and vegetables, grapes, potatoes, cousins, and the steppe regions - in animal husbandry.

Thus, a project was launched to create a livestock and dairy complex in the Nishan district for 110 billion soums ($10.5 million). The complex will raise 614 heads of thoroughbred cattle and produce 5,760 tons of dairy products per year.

It was noted that projects for growing potatoes and vegetables in the foothill villages of the Shakhrisabz city have both economic and social significance. For this, the population will be allocated land plots, the grown products will be purchased on the basis of cooperation. According to estimates, this will provide 34 regional demand for potatoes.
