Uzbekistan, VEB.RF eye accelerating implementation of joint projects

Uzbekistan and Russian Bank for Development and Foreign Economic Affairs (VEB.RF) discussed the current state and further steps to accelerate the implementation of previously agreed joint projects, Trend reports referring to the Ministry of Investments and Foreign Trade of Uzbekistan.

On March 16 this year, a meeting was held between the Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Investments and Foreign Trade of Uzbekistan Sardor Umurzakov with the Chairman of the State Development Corporation VEB.RF of Russia Igor Shuvalov, during which topical issues of current cooperation and plans to expand the partnership in the near future were discussed.

The parties discussed issues of expanding investment cooperation through the study of new promising projects of industrial cooperation in Uzbekistan in the fields of energy, agriculture and water management, mining, and pharmaceuticals were discussed.

Shuvalov expressed readiness to take part in the elaboration of financing issues for new industrial cooperation projects developed within the framework of the ‘Project Office’ created by the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade of Uzbekistan and the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Russia.

Following the meeting, the parties agreed to unite efforts to promote Uzbek-Russian economic cooperation and continue to work together to develop new proposals in the most promising industries, where there is significant potential to attract Russian investment and advanced technologies.
