The United States Agency for International Development (USAID), in partnership with the Ministry of Water Resources of Uzbekistan, is implementing a regional project ‘Water Resources and Environment’, Trend reports referring to the government portal of Uzbekistan.
On March 31, an introductory online seminar was held to get acquainted with the goals, objectives, planned activities of the project, as well as to discuss priorities. The event was attended by representatives of ministries and departments, universities, international organizations of the country.
The seminar was opened by the First Deputy Minister of Water Resources of Uzbekistan Azimjon Nazarov and the Head of the USAID Mission in Uzbekistan Susan Fine.
According to the information, the project aims to strengthen cooperation between Central Asian countries in the field of water resources with the aim of increasing stability, economic development and improving ecosystems.
It was also noted that the project is aimed at strengthening the regional capacity for water resources management and reducing environmental risks in the Syrdarya and Amudarya river basins.
