Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan implementing numerous projects

Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Investments and Foreign Trade of Uzbekistan Sardor Umurzakov met with Minister of Energy and Industry of Kyrgyzstan Kubanychbek Turdubaev, Trend reports referring to the Ministry of Investments and Foreign Trade of Uzbekistan.

The sides discussed the agreements reached during the recent visit of the president of Kyrgyzstan to Uzbekistan, as well as the mechanisms for resolving existing issues, taking into account the common interests.

During the meeting, the sides announced the plans to strengthen partnership in the fields of investment, industrial cooperation, trade and transport and adopted a roadmap to expand and intensify the cooperation in the field of industrial cooperation.

The document envisages the implementation of 60 joint projects worth more than $550 million.

At the same time, Uzbekistan is ready for intensive interaction with Kyrgyzstan to supplement the roadmap with new industrial projects.

The sides talked about cooperation in the energy sector and considered the prospects for building up mutual trade.

In accordance with the existing bilateral agreements, the volume of the Uzbek-Kyrgyz trade turnover is planned to be increased to $1 billion this year and to $2 billion over the next several years.

To bring the desired result closer, the sides agreed to create wholesale distribution and logistics centers to organize a supply system and promote the Uzbek and Kyrgyz products to the promising markets.

Following the meeting, an agreement was reached to continue discussions within the current Working Group on expanding trade and economic partnership and industrial cooperation between the countries.

A decision was made to hold regular consultations of experts in the field of business and export.

International Industrial Trade Fair “Innoprom. Big Industrial week in Uzbekistan” is being held for the first time in Tashkent on April 5-7, 2021. Some 300 industrial companies and business delegations from Russia, Uzbekistan, Armenia, Belarus, Germany, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, France, the Czech Republic, Japan are participating there.
