Uzbekistan, Saudi Arabia to expand co-op in tourism sector

The head of Uzbekistan’s Foreign Trade Ministry Sardor Umurzakov held an online meeting with his counterpart from Saudi Arabia Khalid al-Falih on April 12, the ministry's web portal said, Trend reports.

According to the portal, the ministers reviewed the issues of further development in light industry, pharmaceuticals, tourism, infrastructure and production of building materials.

The parties focused on the progress in the implementation of projects that are being realized in the energy sector jointly with the Saudi Arabian ACWA Power company in the Uzbek Syrdarya and Bukhara regions.

It was agreed that both states will provide comprehensive assistance for the effective implementation of the above investment projects.

Besides, the ministers noted the significant potential for partnerships in such areas as finance, health, education, science and innovation, agriculture and water management, housing and transport infrastructure.

At the end of the dialogue, the officials reached an agreement to continue mutually beneficial bilateral cooperation, and to periodically hold videoconference meetings in order to control and supervise the implementation of common projects and ideas.
