Vietnamese specialists will spend the entire season of this year in Uzbekistan and will be directly involved in the process of planting and growing rice in the Karakalpakstan Republic and Khorezm region, Trend reports referring to the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Indonesia.
According to the information, two specialists from the Vietnamese Academy of Agricultural Sciences have been in Uzbekistan since April 7, who arrived to implement a project to introduce Vietnamese rice cultivation technologies.
Together with the arrived specialists, 15 varieties of Vietnamese rice seeds were delivered to Uzbekistan, pre-selected taking into account the soil and climatic conditions of the Karakalpakstan Republic and the Khorezm region.
It is reported that the seeds will be tested within the framework of pilot projects in five districts of the Karakalpakstan Republic (Nukus and Chimbay) and Khorezm region (Gurlen, Urgench, and Yangibazar).
The work will be carried out to introduce mechanized technology for sowing seedlings starting from May through June.
It is noted that in connection with the late onset of the rice sowing season in the Nukus and Chimbay districts of Karakalpakstan, the first phase of the project began at an experimental rice growing station in the Gurlen district of the Khorezm region.
In the process of preparing for sowing, specialists once again studied the local soil and climatic conditions in the Gurlen, Urgench, and Yangibazar districts and, as a result, prepared special cassettes for growing rice seedlings.
Since salinity is a serious problem in these areas, the task was to create experimental areas on the basis of experimental stations and farms for testing varieties adapted to salinity.
In addition, targeted work is being undertaken to conserve water in rice paddies and to develop standardized seed reproduction practices on-farm and industrial scale.
Vietnamese specialists will spend the entire season of this year in Uzbekistan and will be directly involved in the process of planting and growing rice. Based on the results of the process of introducing new technologies, intermediate seminars and training for local specialists will be organized.
