Uzbekistan shares data on taxes paid by int'l internet services providers

Facebook paid 5.98 billion soums ($568,789) in taxes in Uzbekistan in 2020, Trend reports with reference to the State Tax Committee of Uzbekistan.

According to the tax committee, foreign companies providing electronic services in Uzbekistan in 2020 paid 4.3 billion soums ($408,995) to the state budget of Uzbekistan.

In particular, Facebook paid VAT (value-added tax) in the amount of 5.98 billion soums ($568,789) in 2020, while 3.45 billion soums ($328,147) were received from Google.

At the same time, Apple paid taxes in the amount of 1.93 billion soums ($183,572) during the reporting period. Also, the state budget in 2020 received 190 million soums ($18,071) from Netflix, 181 million soums ($17,215) from Booking.com and 136 million soums ($12,935) from Yandex.

As of April 1, 2021, 26 foreign companies providing internet services were registered as VAT payers.

It was noted that foreign Internet companies operating in Uzbekistan are recognized as taxpayers from 2020. A VAT office has been created for them, which allows them to register and pay taxes.
