Navoi Mining and Metallurgical Combine leads among Uzbekistan’s taxpayers

Navoi Mining and Metallurgical Combine (NMMC) is among leading taxpayers of Uzbekistan with 23.4-percent share in the state budget, reaching tax payments on the amount of 31 trillion soums ($2.9 billion) in 2020, Trend reports referring to NMMC.

In 2020 the cost of products manufactured by NMMC amounted to $4.9 billion in foreign equivalent, which is about 10 percent of the country's GDP.

Also, the publication defines the gold reserve of the first twenty countries in the world, including Uzbekistan. Uzbekistan took 15th place (325 tons) after Kazakhstan (378 tons). The first place in this ranking is occupied by the US (8,133 tons).

According to the information, this year, Navoiyuran state enterprise, Navoi Mining and Metallurgical Combine Joint Stock Company and Fund of the Navoi Mining and Metallurgical Combine state institution will be organized on the basis of Navoi Mining and Metallurgical Combine state enterprise.

It is noted that the exploration and production of precious metals will be carried out by a manufacturing enterprise in the form of the Navoi MMC joint-stock company.

In February 2020, at a meeting on reforming NMMC state-owned enterprise, the head of state estimated the book value of the NMMC at $1.3 billion, while the market price of foreign enterprises of this level amounted to $11 billion.

In this regard, NMMC is being transformed into a modern company. The Development Program until 2026 is being consistently implemented here. Within its framework, in the period 2017-2019, eight facilities worth $1.2 billion were commissioned. As a result, over the past three years, the volume of gold production increased by 2.5 percent, while silver production increased by 37 percent.

In addition, the need to bring the volume of production at the enterprise to 94 tons by 2026, the implementation of 40 projects worth $4 billion, including the development of a new field with a design cost of $525 million, was indicated.
