Uzbekistan plans to attract experienced specialists in the electronic industry of Singapore to develop a new program for the development of the electrical industry in Uzbekistan, Trend reports referring to Uzbek embassy in Singapore.
The Embassy of Uzbekistan organized an online meeting between the First Deputy Chairman of the Uzeltekhsanoat Association (Association of Electrical Engineering Enterprises of Uzbekistan) Mansur Khashimov and the President of the Singapore Federation of Manufacturers, Vice-Chairman of the Business Federation Douglas Foo.
The meeting discussed areas of possible cooperation in the electrical industry of Uzbekistan with the involvement of more Singaporean manufacturing companies and owners of know-how of software products, automated control systems and other segments of this industry.
Foo, giving a high assessment to the targeted program for the development of the electrical industry in Uzbekistan, said that this program also correlates with the goals of the Singapore government in ensuring production in the domestic market of up to 50 percent of finished products by 2030.
Also, taking into account the provided benefits and tax privileges, it was noted that there are great opportunities for Singaporean companies to develop and expand their business in Uzbekistan, which, like Singapore, is positioned as production hubs for the regions of Central Asia and ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations), respectively.
Speaking about practical steps for establishing cooperation, Douglas Foo said that the Singapore Federation of Manufacturers is carefully studying the proposal to appoint one of the experienced specialists in the electronics industry of Singapore as an advisor to the Uzeltekhsanoat Association to assist in the development of a new program for the further development of the electrical industry in Uzbekistan.
At the same time, in order to attract Singaporean companies to cooperate with Uzbek enterprises of the electrical industry, the Singaporean side proposed to consider the possibility of holding a webinar with the participation of representatives of enterprises from both countries, including small and private businesses in this sector.
Foo also agreed with the prospects for cooperation through the training of Uzbek specialists in higher educational institutions of Singapore and, in particular, the Nanyang Institute of Technology, which is one of the leading educational institutions in training engineers for the electrical industry.
