Uzbekistan considers connecting to digital platforms of EAEU for tax and customs administration

Uzbekistan is considering the possibility of connecting to digital platforms of the EAEU for tax and customs administration, Trend reports referring to the press service of the president of Uzbekistan.

On May 21, the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev in the format of a video conference took part in a regular meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council.

The current meeting of the Supreme Council, chaired by the President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev, was also attended by the Honorary Chairman of the Council, the First President of Kazakhstan - Elbasy Nursultan Nazarbayev, Acting Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan, President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko, President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov, President of Russia Vladimir Putin, President of Cuba - an observer country in the EAEU Miguel Bermudez and Chairman of the Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission Mikhail Myasnikovich.

It is noted that the agenda of the event included topical issues of practical cooperation in various sectors of the economy, as well as improving the activities of the EAEU.

In his speech, Mirziyoyev separately focused on the most important tasks, the solution of which requires coordinated approaches. In particular, significant potential for further building up trade relations, including through the removal of barriers and the convergence of non-tariff trade regulation measures was highlighted.

The president also noted the importance of deepening industrial cooperation between leading enterprises and regions of the countries, promoting projects in the real sector of the economy and ensuring food security, with the involvement of the Eurasian Development Bank, and resolving topical issues in the transport and transit sector and expanding mutual preferences in order to increase the volume of cargo transportation.

Taking into account the stabilization of the epidemiological situation and the ongoing measures to vaccinate the population, Mirziyoyev proposed to resume regular air and rail communication between the countries of the region.

In addition, the possibility of connecting Uzbekistan to the digital platforms of the EAEU on tax and customs administration, industry, labor migration and tourism was being considered, as well as opportunities for cooperation in a number of other priority areas are being studied.
