The administration of Chungcheong province in South Korea proposed to establish cooperation with a certain region of Uzbekistan to establish a long-term partnership, Trend reports referring to the Uzbek embassy in South Korea.
Representatives of the Embassy of Uzbekistan through video conferencing held negotiations with the head of the Department of Foreign Economic Cooperation and Trade of the Administration of Chungcheong Hong Man-pyo.
The meeting was also attended by Counselor of the Embassy Alisher Abdusalomov, representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan in the Secretariat of the "Republic of Korea - Central Asia" Forum Doniyor Usmonov, as well as senior officials of the Chungcheong Provincial Administration.
According to the information, the province ranks first in South Korea in terms of trade balance (an increase of $45.3 billion), first in the world in terms of display production (25 percent of the global market and 53 percent of the South Korean market). The province has six large industrial zones, 11,200 scientific and technological centers.
According to the South Korean side, more than 6,000 Uzbek citizens live in Chungcheong province.
The South Korean side reported with regret that until now, the Chungcheong Provincial Administration had not established interaction with certain regions of Uzbekistan.
In this regard, Hong Man-pyo expressed interest in intensifying exchanges with the regions of Uzbekistan. In particular, the Provincial Administration proposed to establish cooperation with a certain region of the republic to find common points of growth and establish long-term partnerships.
According to representatives of the Provincial Administration, taking into account the leading positions of the province in the field of research activities, the area of knowledge exchange can be identified as one of the potential areas of cooperation with the Uzbek side.
