Uzbekistan's foreign trade turnover from January through May 2021 reached $14.6 million, increasing by $1.7 million, or 13.2 percent compared to the same period in 2020, Trend reports with reference to the State Statistics Committee of Uzbekistan.
According to the committee, exports in the total volume of Uzbekistan's foreign trade turnover amounted to $5.7 million (an increase of 14 percent in 5M2020), and imports – $8.8 million (12.7 percent).
Today Uzbekistan carries out trade relations with 163 countries of the world. The largest volume of foreign trade turnover was recorded with China (18.4 percent), Russia (16.5 percent), Kazakhstan (10.5 percent), Turkey (8.9 percent), South Korea (4.5 percent), Kyrgyzstan (2.3 percent) and Afghanistan (2.0 percent).
In the structure of the foreign trade turnover of Uzbekistan, a significant share was noted in Tashkent, which amounted to 38.6 percent, or $5.6 billion, and the smallest share was recorded at the level of 1.1 percent, or $167.5 million in the Jizzakh region.
It is reported that the foreign trade turnover of Uzbekistan with the CIS countries reached $5.3 billion. Of these, the volume of exports amounted to $1.9 billion, and the volume of imports - $3.5 billion.
The largest volume of foreign trade turnover with the CIS countries was recorded with Russia (45.7 percent), Kazakhstan (29.1 percent).
The foreign trade turnover of Uzbekistan with the EAEU countries amounted to $4.4 billion. Of these, the volume of exports amounted to $1.4 billion, while imports - $3 billion.
The total number of exporting entities in 5M2021 amounted to 4,468, which ensured the increase in the volume of exports without gold to $4.5 billion (an increase of 33.9 percent compared to 5M2020).
In the structure of exports, 84.7 percent are goods, which mainly fall on industrial goods (28.4 percent), food products and live animals (7.9 percent), chemicals and similar products (6.7 percent).
Due to a decrease in exports to other foreign countries, the share of exports to the CIS countries increased, and their share in its total volume amounted to 31.1 percent.
Compared to 2019-2020, Uzbekistan’s main partners in the export of goods and services in foreign trade in 5M2021 were China, Turkey, Russia, Kazakhstan, Afghanistan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan. Their share in the total export volume reached 58.5 percent.
