The Swiss Casale SA company has been selected to equip and design a new ammonia plant in Uzbekistan, Trend reports with reference to World Fertilizer.

According to the information, the plant with a capacity of 495,000 tons per year will be built in Yangier district near Uzbekistan’s Syrdarya region.

“Casale SA will also have the opportunity to participate in the further development of the project,” the message said.

It was also reported that the ammonia plant will be part of a large fertilizer complex that will produce 900,000 tons of mineral fertilizers per year and is expected to be fully operational in 2023. Site preparation work was completed in 2020.

CEO of Casale SA Federico Zardi noted that the plant is the result of another project the nitric acid plant for Navoiazot (Navoi Ammonia and Urea Fertilizer Production Plant in Uzbekistan), which was launched exactly one year ago.

“Both projects are a testament to the growing recognition of our technologies that will contribute to the development of the local economy by creating new jobs, and reducing dependence on imported fertilizers,” Zardi said.

Navoiazot JSC was a joint project of Uzbekistan and Mitsubishi worth almost $1 billion. Its construction lasted four years and was completed two months ago.
