A total of 22 investment projects with the participation of international financial institutions (IFIs) are being implemented in the development of the drinking water supply and sewerage system in Uzbekistan, with a total value of $2,350 million, Trend reports with reference to Uzbek media.
According to the information, these 22 projects are financed from IFI funds - $1,972.9 million (83.9 percent) and from the state budget - $377.6 million (16.1 percent).
It is noted that according to the Investment Program in 2021, 22 projects provide for the development of investments in the amount of $201.3 million. From January through July of this year, loans from international financial institutions were disbursed in the amount of $82.5 million.
The bulk of the disbursed credit funds accounted for the Asian Development Bank (36.3 percent of the total), the World Bank (35.1 percent), the Islamic Development Bank (19.4 percent), the Saudi Development Fund (4.7 percent), OPEC Fund (3.4 percent). The largest share of the disbursed loans falls on the Bukhara region ($23.8 million), Tashkent region ($19.2 million), Syrdarya region ($16 million), Samarkand region ($11.2 million), Jizzakh region (nine million) and the Republic of Karakalpakstan ($1.7 million).
The funds will be used for construction and installation work, the purchase of equipment and instruments, the provision of consulting services and other purposes. At the same time, to date, by attracting funds from IFIs in the field of further development of the drinking water supply and sewerage system, work is underway on 23 promising projects with a total cost of $2.1 billion.
It is noted that at the moment, work is underway on the development of design and project documents, approval and agreement of the developed documents.
