BAKU, Azerbaijan, November 30. Uzbekistan has started construction of the Nizhnechatkalskaya hydroelectric power plant in the Bostanlyk district of the Tashkent region, Trend reports via Uzbek media outlets.

Upon completion of construction, it is planned to launch four hydroelectric units with a total capacity of 90 MW. This capacity will make it possible to produce 292 million kW/h of electricity. As a result, more than 91.2 million cubic meters of gas per year will be saved.

The project for the construction of a hydroelectric power plant is planned to be completed in 2025.

Uzbekistan is the leader in the CIS in terms of the volume of hydropower plants (HPP) put into operation. In total, 11 new HPPs have been put into operation in Uzbekistan over 5 years.
