BAKU, Azerbaijan, February 1. Uzbekistan has shared data on the value of crop output in 2022, a source at Uzbek State Statistics Committee told Trend.

According to the statistics, the crop output amounted to 179.9 trillion soums ($15.9 billion) from January through December 2022 - an increase by 3.8 percent compared to the same period the preceding year.

The share of crop production in the total volume of agricultural production amounted to 51.7 percent.

During the reporting period, Uzbekistan produced 7.9 million tons of grain and leguminous crops, 11.1 million tons of vegetables, 3.4 million tons of potatoes, 2.4 million tons of melons, 2.9 million tons of fruits and berries, and 1.7 million tons of grapes.

Furthermore, agricultural production in Uzbekistan in value terms amounted to 347.5 trillion soums ($30.8 billion) in 2022, which is an increase of 12.95 percent compared to 2021 (302.5 trillion soums or $27.9 billion).

According to the statistics committee, within 2012-2022 agricultural production in the country has grown 6.6 times.

Last year Uzbekistan voiced plans on digitalizing its agriculture sector, as well as setting goal to create 600,000 permanent jobs in this sector and increase exports to $2 billion in 2023.
