BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 23. Kazakhstan was the main importer of Uzbekistan’s fruit and vegetables from January through February 2023, Trend reports citing the Uzbek State Statistics Committee.

According to the statistics, Kazakhstan imported from Uzbekistan some 44,800 tons of fruit and vegetables worth $17.4 million – a decrease of 33.6 percent, compared to the figure for the first two months in 2022 (67,500 tons worth $25.8 million).

The remaining importers were: Russia (29,200 tons), China (19,500 tons), Kyrgyzstan (11,900 tons), Pakistan (9,200 tons), Afghanistan (4,600 tons), Türkiye (2,000 tons), Azerbaijan (1,500 tons), Belarus (1,400 tons), etc.

From January through February 2023, Uzbekistan exported to its trade partners some 17,600 tons of mug beans, 15,500 tons of dried grapes, 15,300 tons of cabbage, 11,100 tons of fresh grapes, 7,600 tons of tomatoes, 6,200 tons of pomegranates, 4,400 tons of prunes, 3,600 tons of chili pepper, 1,400 tons of peanuts, etc.

During the reporting period, the trade turnover of Uzbekistan amounted to $8.9 billion, increasing by 2 percent or $176.4 million, compared to the same period last year ($8.7 billion). Export from Uzbekistan in the reporting period amounted to about $3.1 billion, while imports to Uzbekistan - were $5.7 billion.

In 2022, Uzbekistan exported 1.7 million tons of fruit and vegetables worth $1.1 billion, decreasing by 18.5 percent compared to the corresponding period in 2021.
