BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 14. Uzbekistan has exported about 3.4 million pairs of shoes worth $7.9 million from January through February 2023, Trend reports Uzbekistan’s State Statistics Committee.
The value of footwear exports increased by $2.4 million or 43.6 percent, compared to the figure for the first two months in 2022 ($5.5 million).
During this period, the main importers of Uzbek footwear were Kyrgyzstan (1.5 million pairs), followed by Kazakhstan (1.3 million pairs), Tajikistan (484,000 pairs), Azerbaijan (59,000 pairs), etc.
Uzbekistan in the reporting period overall exported to its trade partners goods and services worth $3.1 billion, decreasing by 23.7 percent year-on-year (2M2022 – $4.1 billion).
At the same time, Uzbekistan's foreign trade turnover from January through February 2023 amounted to $8.9 billion, increasing by 2 percent or $176.4 million, compared to the same period last year ($8.7 billion).
In 2022, Uzbekistan exported over 28.3 million pairs of shoes worth $44.6 million. The value of footwear exports increased by $7 million or 18.7 percent, compared to the corresponding period in 2021.
