Rise in Uzbekistan’s electric car imports reflect growing demand for sustainable mobility

BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 24. Uzbekistan imported over 2,540 electric cars worth $81.3 million from eight foreign countries from January through April 2023, Trend reports.

According to the country's statistics agency, the import of electric cars has increased by 1,815 vehicles or around 3.5 times compared to the same period last year.

Moreover, only in April, Uzbekistan imported 876 electric cars from foreign countries.

Uzbekistan imported electric car imports primarily from China, Hong Kong, and Germany. The figures indicate that Uzbekistan imported 2,278 electric cars from China, 202 from Hong Kong, and 32 from Germany.

In addition, the country also imported 9 and 4 vehicles from South Korea and the US, respectively.

With the rising demand for electric vehicles globally, Uzbekistan's import figures reflect a growing preference among consumers for clean and efficient modes of transportation. This surge in electric vehicle imports highlights Uzbekistan's growing interest in environmentally friendly transportation and its efforts to promote sustainable mobility.
