BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 6. Uzbekistan and Qatar have agreed to implement joint investment projects with a total worth of $12 billion, Trend reports.
The issue was discussed at the meeting between President Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, Emir of Qatar, who is on a visit in Uzbekistan.
"We consider Qatar as our promising partner not only in the Middle East region, but also in the entire Arab-Muslim world. Thanks to our contacts in recent years, there has been a real breakthrough in bilateral relations," President Mirziyoyev said.
The sides agreed on the participation of leading Qatari companies in major investment projects in the energy, gas and chemical industries, agriculture, infrastructure, logistics, tourism and other sectors in Uzbekistan.
In order to support promising projects, it was proposed to hold an Uzbek-Qatari investment forum in September this year, as well as to consider the establishment of mechanisms for financing joint projects.
The Heads of State stressed the importance of establishing the shortest, safest and safest transport and logistics corridors connecting Central Asia with the Gulf countries.
