BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 21. The total number of operating industrial enterprises in Uzbekistan by June 1, 2023 amounted to 70,611 units (excluding farms), Trend reports.
According to official statistics, this number represents 6.8 percent of the total number of operating enterprises in the country.
Thus, out of this total number, 69,705 enterprises by the beginning of June belong to small business entities.
The number of operating industrial enterprises in Tashkent city amounted to 11,434 units, in the Ferghana region – 8,006 units, in the Tashkent region – 7,208 units, in the Samarkand region – 6,276 units, in the Andijan region – 6,019 units, in the Namangan region – 5,166 units, in the Kashkadarya region – 4,297 units, and in the Bukhara region - 4 140 units.
At the same time, the number of industrial enterprises in the Khorezm region amounted to 3,925 units, in the Surkhandarya region – 3,287 units, in the Navoi region – 3,266 units, in the Republic of Karakalpakstan - 3,259 units, in the Jizzakh region – 2,751 units, and in the Syrdarya region – 1,577 units.
Industry in Uzbekistan is one of the key sectors of the country's economy. It plays an important role in ensuring growth and development, as well as in promoting economic diversification.
The country actively attracts foreign investment and cooperates with foreign partners for the modernization and development of industrial enterprises.
