Uzbekistan's economic growth may approach 6.5% in 2024 - Gazprombank

BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 28. Russian Gazprombank forecasted a 5.8 percent acceleration of Uzbekistan’s economic growth in 2023 and its approaching 6.5 percent in 2024, assuming successful implementation of the country's development strategy, Deputy Head of Research, Chief CIS economist at Gazprombank Gulnara Khaidarshina told Trend.

She said the Development Strategy until 2026 has been approved, and its goals include 40 percent growth of industrial production and an increase of exports to $30 billion.

She noted that export growth will primarily be facilitated by high value-added products.

"The geographical scope of exports will be expanded from 115 to 150 countries," Khaidarshina said.

Moreover, she stressed that the share of high-value-added products is already close to 60 percent, with 23 percent for industrial goods, 20 percent for services, seven percent for chemical products, six percent for other ready goods, and five percent for machinery, equipment and so on.

According to Gazprombank, in 2022 the growth of the economy of Uzbekistan amounted to 5.7 percent, and in 2021 - 7.4 percent.
