AIIB, Central Bank of Uzbekistan discuss green economy initiatives

TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, July 6. The Central Bank of Uzbekistan recently hosted a meeting with a delegation from the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) led by Vice President Ludger Schuknecht, Trend reports.

According to the bank, during the meeting, the sides discussed the current macroeconomic situation in the country, ongoing reforms, green economy initiatives, and sustainable development efforts.

Furthermore, AIIB's Vice President Schuknecht expressed his appreciation for the conducive environment created in Uzbekistan to promote favorable investment climates. He commended the efforts made towards achieving positive real interest rates and maintaining macroeconomic stability, emphasizing their significance in attracting investments.

Following the meeting, the sides exchanged views on the bank's activities in Uzbekistan.

Earlier, the vice president also met with Minister of Investments, Industry, and Trade of Uzbekistan Laziz Kudratov. The sides discussed the current status of the implementation of ongoing projects and the prospects for expanding the financial and technical cooperation between Uzbekistan and AIIB.

Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank was established on October 24, 2014, with its headquarters located in Beijing. The primary goal of the AIIB is to stimulate social and economic development in the region by investing in infrastructure projects.
