TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, September 4. Food prices in Uzbekistan increased by 0.6 percent in August of 2023, Trend reports.
As per data released by Uzbekistan’s Statistics Agency, consumer price index increased by 0.54 percent in August 2023. Increase in food prices since the beginning of the year (3.7 percent) and for twelve months (10.6 percent) has remained at a minimum level in recent years.
The prices increased on the following:
- Pumpkins - a two-time increase,
- Cabbages - increased by over 25 percent within a month,
- Cucumbers - a 25.9-percent increase,
- Lemons - increase of 12.7-percent increase
- Carrots - 11.8-percent increase.
Meanwhile, prices for tomatoes fell by 33.5 percent, eggplants - by almost 30 percent.
Dairy products and eggs rose in price by 1.9 percent, meat products - by 1.1 percent. Prepared foodstuffs (0.5 percent), fish (0.2 percent) and soft drinks (0.1 percent) showed very little increase in prices.
Consolidated Consumer Price Index (CPI) amounted to 100.5 percent as for August 2023. Average monthly increase in CPI from January through August of 2023 reached 0.5 percent. CPI, being the main indicator of inflationary processes in the consumer sector, is one of the key indicators for assessment of socio-economic state of the country.
