TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, September 29. As of September 1, 2023, the number of active enterprises with foreign capital in Uzbekistan amounted to 12,750, Trend reports.
In terms of regions, the number of enterprises in the country is distributed as follows:
- Tashkent city: 8,139 units.
- Tashkent region: 1,457 units.
- Samarkand region: 543 units.
- Fergana region: 441 units.
- Surkhandarya region: 336 units.
- Andijan region: 308 units.
- Bukhara region: 298 units.
- Namangan region: 210 units.
- Navoiy region: 202 units.
- Syrdarya region: 191 units.
- Jizzakh region: 175 units.
- Kashkadarya region: 169 units.
- Republic of Karakalpakstan: 155 units.
- Khorezm region: 126 units.
Meanwhile, as of June 1, 2023, the number of active enterprises with foreign capital in Uzbekistan reached 12,807. Based on data provided by the Statistics Committee, some 4,919 joint ventures and 7,888 foreign enterprises are among the established businesses in the country.
Overall, companies have invested a total of 139.1 trillion Uzbek soums ($11.4 billion) in Uzbekistan in the first six months of 2023. A significant share of these investments, 59 trillion soums ($4.8 billion), or 42.4 percent, account for foreign investment and loans directed to fixed capital.
Moreover, a protocol aimed at improving the investment environment in Uzbekistan was signed during a session of the Foreign Investors Council in Uzbekistan’s Tashkent earlier this year. The document included proposals for enhancing the investment climate in Uzbekistan.
