Polish company determined to invest in dev’t of Uzbekistan’s horticulture

TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, September 29. Polish Plantin company, specializing in production of berry seedlings by in vitro method, expressed its willingness to invest in development of Uzbekistan’s horticulture sector, Trend reports.

The news followed a meeting between the Polish delegation headed by Chief Executive Officer of Plantin Tadeusz Kusibab, Ministry of Agriculture of Uzbekistan, and the Investment Attraction Agency, as well as BMB Holding investment company, the Council of farmers of Uzbekistan and the government of Uzbekistan’s Jizzakh region.

During the negotiations, the parties discussed issues of investing in production of berry crops in Uzbekistan, as well as cultivation of hazelnuts and other cultures.

The delegation was presented with a climate map of the territory of Uzbekistan for selection of optimal varieties of berry crops and their further zoning, investment conditions. In addition, they were given selected soil and water samples for laboratory research.

As a result of the meeting, Tadeusz Kusibab expressed willingness to directly invest in the creation of plantations for growing seedlings and berries in Uzbekistan.

He also noted that in case of successful implementation of the project, his company is also ready to invest in the processing of berries and the production of juices, jams, syrups and extracts, frozen foods.

Meanwhile, Minister of Agriculture of Uzbekistan Aziz Voitov has recently said that the country is interested in attracting $50 billion of foreign investment in its agricultural sector.

He added that the government of Uzbekistan provides subsidies to farmers for the introduction of water-saving technologies and the purchase of seeds.

In addition, Voitov said that this platform provides huge opportunities for negotiating contracts and stimulating business in the field of agriculture.
