TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, October 5. The assembly of the Russian 'Atom' electric vehicle can be set up in Uzbekistan, Trend reports.
This was announced by Deputy Minister of Economic Development of Russia Dmitry Volvach at the third Interregional Cooperation Forum between Russia and Uzbekistan.
Volvach noted that Uzbek partners expressed interest in launching SKD assembly of 'Atom' and localizing the production.
According to information provided by the Statistics Agency of Uzbekistan, in the first 7 months of 2023, Uzbekistan purchased electric cars totaling about $220 million.
From January through July 2023, the nation imported 7,391 electric vehicles worth a total of $217 million. When compared to the same time last year, when imports nearly climbed six times (by 6,084 units), these numbers demonstrate an outstanding growth.
Only 11 electric vehicles were shipped from the United States, but China delivered 6,898 of them.
