TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, October 9. Uzbekistan produced over 3.77 million tons of coal from January through August of 2023, Trend reports.
As per Uzbekistan’s Statistics Committee, the volume of coal production in the country during the first 8 months of 2023 is 9.81 percent more than in the same period last year (3.4 million tons).
In August alone, Uzbekistan mined 673,700 tons of coal, which is a 40.2 percent increase compared to last year’s calculations.
Meanwhile, 5.3 million tons of coal were mined in Uzbekistan in 2022, which is 5.9 percent more than in 2021 (5.05 million tons).
In September 2023, a new coal extraction site has been discovered in Uzbekistan’s Surkhandarya region. As per preliminary calculations, the volume of coal deposits amounts to 11 million tons.
Uzbekistan plans to increase coal production to 6.5 million tons by the end of 2023, which is 22.6 percent more than the volume extracted in 2022.
