TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, December 19. Uzbekistan plans to bring the annual production of passenger cars to 1 million by 2030, Trend reports.
The news followed a recent meeting between President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and the representative of the country’s transport sector.
During the meeting, the president was presented a number of proposals for the development of the auto industry and agricultural engineering in Uzbekistan.
Mirziyoyev pointed out the importance of paying special attention to the production of electric vehicles and instructed to establish the production of spare parts for them. The first projects have already been launched in this direction. It is planned that next year a car factory capable of producing 10,000 electric vehicles per year will be launched.
Meanwhile, according to Uzbekistan's Statistics Agency, 311,227 passenger cars were produced from January through October of 2023.
The production volume of specific car models during the reporting period amounts to the following:
Cobalt - 89,410 units
Damas - 69,323 units
Lacetti-Gentra - 65,676 units
Tracker - 33,970 units
Onix - 25,432 units
Chery - 8,580 units
