TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, January 22. Qatar's Al Mirqab Capital Company discussed matters of power plant construction in Uzbekistan's Samarkand region and the Republic of Karakalpakstan with the attraction of direct investments, Trend reports.
This was discussed during an online meeting between Uzbekistan's Deputy Minister of Energy, Umid Mamadaminov, and the management of Al Mirqab Capital Company.
The meeting, organized by the Embassy of Uzbekistan, was also attended by representatives of the Ministry of Investment, Industry, and Trade and the Direct Investment Fund of Uzbekistan.
As a result of the event, an agreement was reached on the visit of the Qatari company's representatives to Uzbekistan in the second half of February 2024 in order to start work on the projects proposed by Al Mirqab Capital and sign relevant agreements.
Al Mirqab Capital Holding, founded in 1983, owns up to 20 large hotel complexes in the US, Europe, and the Middle East. The company's assets exceed $8 billion.
In September 2023, Uzbekistan and Qatar inked multiple investment deals in sectors such as the food industry, renewable energy, and infrastructure development, following a meeting between Uzbekistan's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Laziz Kudratov, and representatives from prominent Qatari investment firms.
