TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, January 24. The Chinese Export-Import Bank plans to open a regional office in Uzbekistan's Tashkent, Trend reports.
This was announced during a meeting between the president of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev with Chairman of the Export-Import Bank (Eximbank) of China Wu Fulin.
The portfolio of joint projects in Uzbekistan has reached $3.5 billion. The sides also plan to prepare new promising projects on the development of transportation and social infrastructure, industry, and the private sector.
Eximbank of China was founded in 1994. It owns assets worth over $800 billion. It is China's leading financial institution for supporting foreign trade and international economic cooperation.
Earlier, the president of Uzbekistan held a meeting with Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank's President Jin Liqun.
The sides discussed topical aspects of further strategic partnership expansion and important project implementation in the fields of energy, water supply, reconstruction of roads and railroads, and entrepreneurship development.
