TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, February 20. Uzbekistan’s embassy is implementing 4 investment projects worth $115 million in cooperation with Azerbaijan, Trend reports.
This was announced at a meeting where the Uzbek Senate Committee on International Relations, Foreign Economic Relations, Foreign Investments and Tourism heard reports of Uzbekistan's ambassadors to Türkiye and Azerbaijan on February 19.
The meeting was attended by senators, deputies of local councils of people's deputies, heads of specialized ministries and departments, state companies, representatives of local executive authorities and mass media.
The hearings have been organized within the framework of establishing parliamentary control over the implementation of tasks and instructions formed on the basis of in-depth analysis during the video conference call held under the chairmanship of Uzbekistan's president on January 18 this year.
The senators highly appreciated the work carried out by Uzbekistan's embassy in Azerbaijan in the areas of political, cultural and humanitarian cooperation. They also noted the achievements in the trade and economic sphere. An Uzbek-Azerbaijani joint investment fund has been established in 2023 with the authorized fund of $500 million.
At the same time, recommendations were expressed to the head of the diplomatic mission to improve the performance of the Embassy in the oil and gas sector, Namangan and Khorezm regions assigned to it.
Meanwhile, citizens of Uzbekistan can now stay on the territory of Azerbaijan without registration for 15 days. According to Uzbekistan's Ministry of Internal Affairs, amendment is connected with the entry into force of the protocol on making additions and amendments to the agreement between Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan on visa-free travels of both countries' citizens, signed on June 18, 1997.
