TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, March 25. Uzbekistan's exports of gold rose by 11.5 percent in February, Trend reports.

According to the data from Uzbekistan's Statistics Agency, Uzbekistan exported nearly $1.3 billion worth of gold in February this year.

The share of gold in Uzbekistan's total exports totaled 36.3 percent from January through February 2024, while it amounted to 37 percent from January through February 2022. Shipments of the precious metal amounted to $1.1 billion from January through February 2023.

In total, Uzbekistan sold $8.1 billion worth of gold in 2023, which is almost twice as much as in 2022.

Meanwhile, Uzbekistan's gold and foreign exchange reserves totaled $32.1 billion, down from $1.22 billion as of March 1, 2024.

According to data from the Central Bank of Uzbekistan, the majority of reserves are held in gold, totaling $24.09 billion. Gold reserves declined by 11.9 million troy ounces over the month. In monetary terms, this figure came to $829.1 million.
