World Gold Council reveals volume of Uzbekistan's gold reserves

TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, April 3. Uzbekistan's gold reserves reached 368 tons as of February 2024, Trend reports.

The data from the World Gold Council shows that this indicator is 3 tons less as of December 2023. Uzbekistan’s share of gold reserves totaled 75 percent of total foreign reserves. The country ranked sixteenth in terms of growth in gold reserves in the world.

The Central Bank of Uzbekistan reduced its gold reserves by 12 tons in February 2024 and hence overall amount of gold reserves reached 35,976 tons worldwide as of January 2024.

Meanwhile, Uzbekistan was among the largest buyers of gold in the world in December 2023.

According to the World Gold Council, the Central Bank of Uzbekistan purchased 9 tons of the precious metal during this period.

The top buyers also included Türkiye (19 tons), China (9 tons), Qatar (2 tons), Mongolia, and the Czech Republic (1 ton each).

The World Gold Council is a trade association for the gold industry headquartered in the United Kingdom. It operates throughout all aspects of the industry, from gold mining to investment, with the goal of creating and maintaining demand for gold through market development.
