TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, June 27. Uzbekistan exported 212,700 tons of onion for a total of $44.1 million from January through May 2024, Trend reports.
The data from Uzbekistan’s Statistics Agency shows that the recorded volume has increased by 32.6 percent compared to the same period last year (160,400 tons in January–May 2023).
At the same time, the volume of onion exports from Uzbekistan increased to 91,400 tons in May 2024, compared to 18,300 tons in April 2024.
Meanwhile, Uzbekistan exported 722,100 tons of fruit and vegetables worth $420.1 million from January through May 2024. This figure has increased by 10.4 percent compared to the same period last year (653,800 tons in January–May 2023).
Russia accounted for the largest volume of horticultural product exports from Uzbekistan, with a total volume of 214,900 tons worth $137.4 million. Pakistan ranked second with 86,900 tons of exports worth $82.8 million, followed by Kazakhstan with 231,700 tons of horticultural products exported worth $64.4 million from January through May 2024.
The exports of horticultural products accounted for 3.9 percent of the total volume of Uzbekistan’s exports.
