TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, July 15. The number of foreign tourists visiting Uzbekistan amounted to 3.5 million from January through June 2024, Trend reports.
According to the data from Uzbekistan’s Statistics Agency, this indicator increased by 13.3 percent (248,200 people) compared to the same period last year.
Amongst all the countries, Kyrgyzstan took the cake for having the lion's share of tourists who flocked to Uzbekistan during this period - a whopping 1.05 million people. Tajikistan came in second with 1.04 people, followed by Kazakhstan (668,400 people), Russia (364,500 people), and Turkmenistan (67,200 people).
The citizens of Türkiye (51,900 people), China (28,700 people), India (28,200 people), South Korea (19,600 people), and South Korea (17,700 people) also visited Uzbekistan during this period.
Meanwhile, a total of 2.8 million tourists visited Uzbekistan from January through May 2024, which is more than 9.6 percent (248,200 people) year-on-year.
Citizens of Tajikistan accounted for the largest number of tourists visiting Uzbekistan - 871,500 people. Kyrgyzstan came in second with 857,000 people, followed by Kazakhstan (498,200 people), Russia (289,600 people), and Turkmenistan (53,800 people).
