TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, November 7. Uzbekistan Railways and Kazakhstan Railways have woven a tapestry of collaboration, stitching together competitive tariffs to lure in a bounty of cargo flows, Trend reports.
The announcement comes after a meeting between Zufar Narzullaev, Chairman of the Uzbekistan Railways Board, and Nurlan Sauranbaev, Chairman of the Kazakhstan Railways Board, during the 81st session of the Council on Railway Transport of the Commonwealth of Independent States.
During the meeting, the parties put their heads together to hash out the digitalization and transformation processes between the two countries. In this vein, the two sides discussed joint efforts to introduce digital technologies and improve the efficiency of the railway industry.
Both parties also engaged in discussions aimed at amplifying transit freight traffic and innovating international transport corridors.
The good news is that Uzbekistan's foreign trade turnover with Kazakhstan reached $3 billion from January through September 2024.This is 6.6 percent less than in the same period last year ($3.2 billion in January-September 2023), and Kazakhstan has found itself among the cream of the crop, landing in the top five largest trading partners of Uzbekistan when it comes to trade turnover during the specified period.
