TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, February 20. Uzbekistan
and SUEZ have engaged in discussions about modernizing the
country’s water infrastructure, Trend reports.
The matter was reviewed at a meeting between Jamshid Kuchkarov,
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Finance of
Uzbekistan, and Pierre Pauliac, CEO of SUEZ Group. The French
delegation included Aurélie Bouchez, Ambassador of France to
Uzbekistan, as well as senior representatives of SUEZ, including
Paul Bourdillon, CEO for Europe and Central Asia, and Silvere
Delaunay, CEO for Central Asia and the Caucasus.
During the meeting, the parties put their heads together to hash
out key projects aimed at boosting the country’s water supply and
wastewater management, with a keen eye on innovative, sustainable
technologies. These projects include public-private partnerships in
the Surkhandarya region and the modernization of Tashkent’s water
supply system.
The meeting also touched on the importance of training highly
skilled specialists in water management, with an emphasis on
educational programs at the Tashkent Institute of Irrigation and
Agricultural Mechanization Engineers. Both sides expressed their
commitment to long-term cooperation to ensure sustainable water
resource management and environmental protection in Uzbekistan.
