Granddaughter of Iran's former Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khomeini Zahra Ashrafi, Iranian opposition leader Mehdi Karroubi 's son Ali Karroubi and Iranian ex-president Mohammad Khatami's brother Muhammadrza Khatami were arrested during the rallies in Tehran to commemorate the 31st anniversary of the Islamic Revolution, Parlemannews reported.
The security forces detained the political leaders under the pretext that they could not ensure their safety at the rally, the source reported.
Iranian ex-president Mohammad Khatami's car also was attacked today, the source reported.
According to the Iranian opposition leader Mir Hussein Musavi's official news site, "kaleme.org", granddaughter of Imam Khomeini, Zahra Ashrafi and her husband Muhamedrzu Khatami - former president Mohammad Khatami's brother, was freed after several hours of detention.
"To ensure the safety of these two individuals who were among the protesters, the police detained them, removed from the meeting place, then freed," the source reported.
No information reported about freeing detained Ali Karrubi, the son of the opposition leader Mehdi Karrubi.
